A: And—yes—a ‘scholar’??
B: An urban figure, at least. One for whom the city—more than just a circulation of persons, goods, and services—is also a circulation of ideas. For whom being-in-the-city implies an intimate relationship with books; reading them, writing (about) them, thinking and talking amongst them. In short: books as volumes.
